You Become Who You're Surrounded By
Why the people around you are shaping more than you realize
There's a truth worth sitting with: you do not become who you're capable of becoming in isolation. You become inside the fields of energy you place yourself in.
The people you spend your time with shape more than your habits or your calendar. They shape your nervous system's sense of what's safe. They shape what your body learns to trust, what your mind begins to accept as normal, what your soul starts to believe is actually possible for a life.
Be mindful of who you let shape your field.
This is not theoretical.
Spend enough time around people who are anxious, small-thinking, or stuck, and some part of you will start to believe that anxious, small, and stuck is simply what life is. Spend time around people who are expansive, regulated, and genuinely growing, and something in you begins to recalibrate toward that instead. Not because you're trying to. Because that's how nervous systems work. They attune to what's around them.
We move faster together when we are aligned in a shared vision of what's possible than we ever do alone, or surrounded by people who compete with us, judge us, or quietly diminish us and others. Pick people who uplift, inspire, and encourage. Who you spend your time with matters. It shapes where you end up and who you become.
Pick people who are growing rather than settled. Who know there is a way through, even before they've found it, and who are genuinely seeking rather than resigned. Pick people who can see you for your highest potential, and who care for themselves as well as others, because that's usually how you know the caring is real.
A skilled coach or teacher embodies exactly this. Someone whose own regulation, growth, and vision become part of your field the moment you're in their presence.
Why a coach can move what you cannot move alone.
Not because we lack capability. Because we are, in that moment, standing on unfamiliar ledge, and it helps enormously to be near someone who has walked that terrain before. Someone who knows the pitfalls. Who knows the shortcuts and the hidden openings. Who recognizes exactly the place where old fear tends to whisper turn back, and can stand beside you right there, steady, so you don't.
You become inside the fields you place yourself in.
Choose people who expand your vision, regulate your nervous system, challenge your old identity, and remind you of the life your soul is trying to lead you toward.
If you're ready to place yourself inside a field that expands rather than shrinks you, I'd love to be part of that field. Let's talk.
